Female Boss Daisy Miles Talks Uplifting Community Through Black LA Food Tour Business

As March is Women’s History Month, there are so many female bosses that are creating change in their communities in an innovative and invigorating way. The Founder of Black LA Food Tour, Daisy Miles is changing the way Los Angeles residents experience Black owned restaurants one tour at a time.

Having already hosted Award Winning Film Director Ava Duvernay, Miles’ hard work is landing her in spaces she could have never dreamed of. We caught up with her to learn more about her story, in a candid interview below.

As March is women’s history month, how important is it to tell your story?

It is very important. As a Black woman in business, telling my story is how I honor the women who came before me and make space for the ones coming after me. Women’s History Month reminds me that our voices, our risks, and our wins matter. If we don’t tell our stories, somebody else will try to rewrite them.

Tell us your vision for Daisy’s Black LA Food Tour?

I want it to be the go-to experience for locals, tourists, celebrities, corporations, and schools who want to understand the culture through food and storytelling.

Having recently celebrated your one year anniversary, how have you been able to garner success?

Honestly, it’s definitely God first. None of this moves without faith and favor over my life. Influencers have helped by spreading the word and bringing new eyes to the tours, and that visibility has been powerful. But what really sustains it is genuinely caring about the community.

And the restaurants that partner with me are everything. Their trust, their stories, their food, that’s the heartbeat of Black LA Food Tour. I just created the platform. They are the magic.

Who are some historical women that you look up to?

Michelle Obama, Fannie Lou Hamer, Maya Angelou, and Madam CJ Walker are a few historical women I look up to.

What are some ways you plan on making history as a business woman?

By building something that outlives me. By turning Black LA Food Tour into a cultural staple in LA, I am not only creating memorable experiences, but real economic impact for Black-owned businesses. I want multiple buses on the road, national expansion, corporate partnerships, and scholarships funded by our tours.
